Buying Online -
We hope you will find that we try to keep our dresses at a fair price but you may wonder why some prices are cheaper online, so here we provide some information that will help you consider the risks .......
Lower business costs
Online retailers don't have the expense of running a physical boutique, such as rent, utilities, fitting rooms, and a team of stylists. These savings are often reflected in lower prices BUT it is hard to know if the company is real or a scam.
Different quality
Two dresses may look almost identical in photos, but the cheaper online version may use:
- Lower-quality fabrics
- Less detailed beading or embellishment
- Simpler construction
- Lower-quality linings and zips
Mass production
Many online sellers produce dresses in very large quantities, allowing them to reduce manufacturing costs. Boutiques often stock more exclusive designer brands made in smaller runs with higher quality standards.
No personal service
When you buy from a boutique, you're paying for more than the dress. You receive:
- A personal styling appointment
- Expert advice
- The opportunity to try on different styles
- Help finding the perfect fit
- Aftercare and alteration guidance
- Peace of mind that the dress looks as expected before you buy
Hidden costs
A dress that seems like a bargain online may end up costing more after:
- Return shipping
- Refusal to accept returns
- Import duties or taxes
- Alterations due to poor fit
- Replacing a dress that doesn't match the photos
Counterfeit designs
Some websites copy designer prom dresses without permission. The dress you receive may look quite different from the professional images used to advertise it.
Boutique exclusivity
Many prom boutiques also offer services that online retailers can't, such as registering dresses by school to help ensure no one else attends in the same gown, exclusive designer collections, and in-person support throughout your prom journey.
In short: online shopping can offer great value but the lower prices often come with trade-offs in quality, fit, service, and reliability. A boutique offers an experience, expert guidance, and confidence that you're investing in a dress you'll love on prom night.
